CLCs advise and support parents planning to breast/bodyfeed their infants or who need assistance during the course of breastfeeding/lactation.
This includes the full spectrum of assistance, including infant loss and milk donation.
All CLCs have completed a minimum of 52 hours of education that relate directly to the WHO/UNICEF competency areas for breastfeeding (lactation) counselors and have demonstrated the competencies and skills required to provide safe, evidence-based counseling for pregnant, lactating, and breastfeeding people.
